7. Define & Tailor your Systems settings

To create a structured and tailored approach to system management, CSFaaS allows you to customise key catalogues. These editable catalogues enable you to align system attributes, classifications, and workflows with your organisation’s unique needs, providing a strong foundation for effective system management.

Tailoring System catalogues to Meet Your Needs

Tailoring your system catalogues ensures:

  • Strategic Alignment: Adapt system definitions and attributes to reflect your organisation’s operational goals and risk management strategy.
  • Standardisation: Ensure consistency across the organisation by predefining system criteria and classification levels.
  • Improved Efficiency: Reduce manual input and ambiguities with predefined, standardised settings for all systems.
  • Enhanced Risk Management: Focus on what matters most by tailoring system attributes to prioritise critical systems and components.

Main System Catalogues & Definitions

To customize your System settings, you can edit the below catalogues.

Global Catalogues

Some of these editable catalogues are more global and apply to the entire organisation. You should have made the configuration previously while setting your global environment:

  • Architectural Domain
  • Business Unit
  • Country
  • Data classification
  • Functional Domain
  • Region

System Specific Catalogues

Some of those editable catalogues are more specific to the systems. You should tailor them to fit to your environment or use it as default.

System Management

The "System Management Options" catalogue classifies system management approaches, identifying whether systems are managed within the organisation or by external providers, offering a clear framework for understanding management responsibilities.

System Hosting

The "System Hosting Options" catalogue outlines the various hosting environments where systems can be stored and managed, ranging from internal hosting to various forms of external hosting. This catalogue aids in identifying and documenting the hosting arrangements for systems, essential for managing security, compliance, and operational risks associated with different hosting environments.

System Accessibility

The "System Accessibility Options" catalogue classifies the access levels of systems, ranging from publicly accessible to internally isolated, helping to guide security and compliance strategies based on how and where systems can be accessed.

System type

The "System Types" catalogue classifies systems based on their role and function within an organisation's network and operational infrastructure, supporting detailed system management and risk analysis.

System Environment Stage

The System Environment Stage catalogue defines a system's lifecycle stage, such as Production or Non-Production, within your organisation. Each stage represents a specific phase in the system’s lifecycle: Production environments host live applications for end-users, while Non-Production stages, like Development or Testing, support activities such as development, quality assurance, and testing before deployment.

System Operational Status

The System Operational Status catalogue classifies a system's current activity and condition within its lifecycle, providing clarity on its role for effective resource allocation, planning, and risk management. Tracking these statuses ensures appropriate controls, monitoring, and actions are applied throughout the system's lifecycle.

By customising these catalogues, CSFaaS empowers you to implement a system management framework that is both efficient and perfectly aligned with your company’s objectives. The flexibility of these settings allows you to adapt quickly to changing requirements, ensuring your systems remain secure, compliant, and strategically aligned.
